SOLDIERS WHO PREVIOUSLY SERVED IN A COMBAT, OPERATIONAL (NON-COMBAT), OR RESTRICTED DEPLOYMENT FOR 30 CONSECUTIVE DAYS WILL HAVE DWELL TIMECALCULATED BASED UPON THE MOST RECENT DWELL TIME EVENT BY SUBTRACTINGTHE RETURN DATE FROM THE CURRENT DATE. SOLDIERS WHO HAVE NEVER PARTICIPATED IN A COMBAT DEPLOYMENT, OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENT OR DEPENDENT RESTRICTED TOUR: DWELL TIMECOUNTER WILL BE CALCULATED BY SUBTRACTING THE SOLDIER’S BASIC ACTIVESERVICE DATE (BASD) FROM THE CURRENT DATE.7. IDENTIFY SOLDIERS IN THE UNIT WHO ARE ON OR HAVE COMPLETED COMBATDEPLOYMENTS, OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENTS, OR DEPENDENT–RESTRICTED TOURS. SUPPORT VERIFICATION THROUGHSOURCE DOCUMENTS SUCH AS ORDERS, EVALUATIONS, AWARDS, LEAVE ANDEARNING STATEMENTS (LES), OR PREVIOUSLY EXISTING ASSIGNMENT HISTORY DATA. UPDATE THE TWO STATUS CODES: “3” (TOUR W/O DEP IN DEPENDENT-RESTRICTEDAREA COMPLETED) AND “4” (TOUR W/O DEP IN DEPENDENT-RESTRICTED AREA NOTCOMPLETED).UPDATE THE THREE TOUR TYPE CODES: “C” (COMBAT),”O”(OPERATIONAL (NON-COMBAT)), AND “R” (RESTRICTED) DEPLOYMENTS.THERE WILLBE A CUMULATIVE CALCULATION OF MONTHS DEPLOYED FOR EACH CATEGORY OFDEPLOYMENT AND TOTAL MONTHS DEPLOYED FOR ALL OPERATIONAL, COMBAT ORDEPENDENT-RESTRICTED TOURS. DWELL TIME DATA WILL BE STORED IN THE EMILPO DATASTORE FOR QUERYING. THE CURRENT ASSIGNMENT WILL NOT BE ALTERED OR UPDATED TO SHOW THEDEPLOYMENT LOCATION.HR PERSONNEL WILL UPDATE THE DUTY TITLE WHEN ACHANGE OCCURS WHILE DEPLOYED.6.

DWELL TIME WILL ONLY BE UPDATED FOR SOLDIERS SERVINGA COMMAND-SPONSORED TOUR WHEN A DEPLOYMENT OCCURS. SOLDIERS WHO HAVE SPENT THE MINIMUM REQUIRED TIME OR LONGER ON ACOMBAT DEPLOYMENT, OPERATIONAL DEPLOYMENT OR DEPENDENT-RESTRICTEDTOUR WILL ALSO RECEIVE TOUR CREDIT FOR A SHORT TOUR.5. CAPTURING DWELL TIME IS CRITICAL TO DETERMINING STRESS ON THE FORCE, FOR MAKING MANNING, ASSIGNMENT, AND PERSONNEL MANAGEMENTDECISIONS.

IT IS ALSOESSENTIAL FOR SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION OF THE INDIVIDUAL DWELL TIMEDEPLOYMENT POLICY, TO INCLUDE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS. THE MINIMUM LENGTH OF AN OCONUS DWELL TIME EVENT WHICH CAN BEANNOTATED ON THE ERB/ORB IS 30 CONSECUTIVE DAYS.
